It's not merino, but damn good for a synthetic fabric. Constructed of polyester fleece, it's soft, warm, and with the added fabric content of Tencel, it's breathable and odor resistant. Warmth without weight, everything you'd expect from a quality fabric made by Polartec. Featuring a flexible, shorter, and wider brim that won't break when stuffed into a jersey pocket, and a hide-able earflap for when the temperatures aren't as chilly. Built to keep your head comfortable and warm in cold to variable conditions.
