In late September, we host our annual Rise to Rail Mixed Surface Ride & Social, a memorable end-of-season event combining a scenic ride with a festive social gathering. The ride explores Utah’s iconic paved roads, gravel paths, and singletrack just outside Salt Lake City. Post-ride, we enjoy food, drinks, and high fives.

The Rise to Rail route is designed to challenge riders with a 103-mile course and 8,000 feet of elevation gain. Despite its difficulty, it rewards participants with breathtaking fall colors, winding, tree-covered singletrack, and scenic mountainous paved and dirt roads.

The Rise to Rail route is 68% paved and 32% unpaved. It features the Historic Union Pacific Rail Trail, a former coal transport route from Coalville to Park City used in the early 1900s. A gravel bike with 38-40mm tires is recommended to handle the mixed surfaces and terrain of the route.

For a shorter option, the 61-mile Rise course offers a challenging ride with stunning views, capturing the best of the longer route.

Both courses are supported by a fully stocked Snēk feed station, sufficient for the Rise course. For the longer Rise to Rail, gas stations provide additional fuel as needed.

Post-ride we gather to enjoy food, share stories, and unwind. If you like a challenging ride with a casual vibe, this event is for you. Keep your calendar open for the end of September every year. For details and registration visit Rise to Rail.
